What is the online reputation of private clinics in France?
Are private clinics well-rated on Google? Do they have many reviews?
We aimed to answer these questions through a study conducted on the public data from the Google pages of 978 clinics. To obtain relevant results, we chose to consider only the Google pages of establishments with at least one review.

Similar to the results obtained for public hospitals, this study shows that the online reputation of private clinics does not live up to the quality of care we know them for.
With a rating below 4/5 for the majority of them (the recommended rating for a good online reputation), private clinics are not very well-rated on Google. However, we know that 8 out of 10 patients read Google reviews before choosing a practitioner, and that 50% of patients hesitate to consult when the rating is below 4/5.
Yet, the quality of care in clinics is recognized. So, it suggests there is a real discrepancy between Google ratings and the actual quality of care provided. However, we notice a rather significant engagement from patients when it comes to leaving a review for the establishment. Indeed, the majority of private clinics have around 100 reviews.
Overall, and similar to public hospitals which have an average rating of 3.2 out of 5, the quality of care provided by private clinics is very poorly represented on Google. Furthermore, the results of this study demonstrate a real lack of communication between healthcare facilities and patients.
Ultimately, this situation is problematic when considering the stakes associated with a good online reputation for healthcare facilities. Indeed, a good Google rating as well as numerous positive reviews reassures patients, allows their feedback to be taken into account with a view to improving the quality of care, and enables practitioners and the establishment to maintain a good image. So, healthcare facilities, give your patients a voice!
